Skate Campers Crash Culture Village In Full | RSEO PDX 2026
The second day of action in the 2026 Rockstar Energy Open’s PDX Culture Village kicked off with a squadron of young campers in bright yellow helmets hitting the Street course, as Rockstar partnered with the Seek Skateboard Camp at Mt. Hood, Oregon to give the campers an experience they’ll never forget.

“Coming here to skate the RSEO Street course and meet all their favorite pros is the best field trip these campers could dream up,” says Seek Skateboard Camp director Gregg Janecky.

“We love that this event is local in our hometown because it’s cool to get these kids out around the pros. Seek is all about building a summer camp skate community. We're a skate camp and we teach kids how to skate, but we also provide a traditional summer camp experience which is all about building social skills, meeting friends, all of those connection pieces that are such a good part of growing up. Being able to do that here at RSEO PDX, where these kids can connect further to skate culture and with each other and their heroes, is great.”

Like other fans visiting the RSEO Culture Village today in Portland’s Waterfront Park, the Seek campers were especially stoked on the miniramp demos between contests and the chance to meet and get autographs from Rockstar skaters Keegan Palmer, Tristan Rennie, Cory Juneau, Clay Kreiner, Jimmy Wilkins, and, of course Thrasher Magazine 2025 Skater Of The Year Chris Joslin—the autograph every camper was after.

“I see a lot of drive in these campers,” Janecky said. “They’re kids who just love skating, and as a result, get really good at it. When they see that something's possible, the skill level just keeps going up, because when a 13-year-old kid sees that something can be done, they start working on it. I love that skateboarding just keeps growing and growing, and the level keeps going up because these kids have skaters like Chris Joslin and Braden Hoban and Paige Heyn to look up to—these role models who are always pushing. It's also cool to watch these kids kind of create their own world and their own take on skateboarding.”

Janecky said his organization embraces the Rockstar Energy Open’s Culture Village and hopes it serves to help every visitor from the community get a taste of what skate culture is all about.

“I want every guest who comes to the Rockstar Energy Open to have the opportunity to connect with the skate community on a large scale,” he says. “I feel like in a lot of sports communities, there's a lot of talk about taking care of each other and building the community, and the skate community does such a good job of actually following through and doing that. Hopefully, the people here who may not be a part of skateboarding get to see what skateboarding is all about and how well it connects people.”

On Sunday, fans are encouraged to show up early for the 9 am Skate The Lake group ride, an annual event hosted by B4BC in partnership with the Rockstar Energy Open to raise awareness about breast cancer and the importance of early tumor detection through self exams and partner exams. The Rockstar Energy Open Culture Village will be free and open to the public from 11 am to 5 pm on Sunday.
