Mami Tezuka has been on a board since she was 5 years old, her comfort and control skating transition is the living proof of why you start ‘em young. Both her mother and father are skaters, and can be credited for Mami’s early beginnings in Hikone, Shiga, Japan. For years now, though, Mami has become a staple in both the contest scene and one of the few women to regularly put out incredible video parts year after year. In part, that can be accredited to her landing a spot on the Blood Wizard skate team where she gets to travel and film with the likes of Chris Gregson—a legend in his own right. She turned pro in 2022. Her first X Games medal, however, came in 2021 with a silver in park. But in 2022 she won the P-Stone Invitational, considered a core event and a fitting place for a Blood Wizard such as Mami to reign supreme. You know what else reigns supreme? Her Smith grinds.
