Jhancarlos, aka Jhanka, has been impossible to ignore in recent years between heavy street parts, marquee contest results and a positive attitude white taking on the heaviest spots and paying the price, about a pound of flesh per slam. In 2023, Creature Skateboards did the honor of turning him pro while on a team tour in Bogota, Colombia, so that his mom could be there for the surprise. He bought her a house to celebrate, using his prize money from various contests. More recently, Jhanka has dropped heavy parts like Thrasher’s Clocked In and Creature’s CRIATURAS that are worth watching again and again for a constant reminder of how gnarly Jhanka truly is. Did we mention his shades? Regardless of a contest run or a crusty spot in the heart of a new city, there’s a 50/50 chance that Jhanka stacks in sunglasses—Jhanka is built differently.
