Registration (Dad) Life | RSEO PDX 2026

As skaters rolled up to Portland’s Waterfront Park for athlete registration and the first day of practice at the 2026 Rockstar Energy Open (RSEO), Clay Kreiner was seen treating it as a family affair. Rolling in with his partner Honolua Blomfield and their one-year-old son Reign, who served as the unofficial welcoming committee: Pretty much every skater arriving wanted to greet the young toddler running around.

“Coming into year three of the Rockstar Energy Open here in Portland feels so good, just knowing the vibes are going to be right, the energy is going to be high,” Kreiner says. “It really is a big celebration for us, one of the funnest, most easygoing events around these days. I feel like contest skateboarding got a little bit too serious at some other events, but everybody knows when they come here, they're coming for fun.” 

It’s true, everyone seems to let it all hang out at the RSEO, both in a relaxed tone but also in an all-out display of creativity and talent.

“Rockstar gets an epic crew of dudes together for this one! The field is top-notch every year, with all the faves and always some new guys to watch for. I can't wait to watch these dudes do their thing, man. It's gonna be epic.”

Kreiner mostly took it easy in practice later in the day, content to take a few laps and then get back to hanging with his son.

“Dad life has surpassed everything I ever imagined it to be,” Kreiner says. “Man, it's the coolest shit ever, and to get to bring little man around stuff like this, I couldn't ask for more. It's so cool to watch some of the gnarliest dudes on the planet just melt when they see the little guy. He gets so much love from all his uncles! I’ve got the coolest homies on the planet, and they show nothing but love for the little one, so that makes it even more special.”

After his practice session, Kreiner stayed on to watch the Heat 2 practice session, featuring his Rockstar teammates Keegan Palmer, Cory Juneau, and Tristan Rennie.

“Shout out to my guys Keegan and Corey and Tristan, who are just such different skateboarders, but some of the best to ever do it. I mean, it goes without mentioning, but we’ve obviously got the two-time Olympic gold medalist out here, just getting his legs going. I can't wait to see what Keegan does in this bowl! Corey and Tristan as well, just some of the smoothest cats on skateboards. I'm so stoked to be a part of the Rockstar family–and the extended family that they bring out every year, all these snowboard and BMX and moto athletes who come out for this–just blessed, blessed to be standing and skating with all these cats.”
