Surf Mesa and Don Diablo to Headline at Rockstar Energy Open 2024
The inaugural Rockstar Energy Open announces the addition of live music by Surf Mesa and Don Diablo to the stacked weekend activities August 23-25. Rockstar Energy Open will take place at Waterfront Park in Portland, Oregon where the concerts will cap off a day of men’s and women’s skateboard competitions - the first event of its kind to bring together professional and amateur skaters.
Rooted in dance, Surf Mesa’s electronic but organic sound has proved him a tastemaker with a recent string of viral hits like ‘ily’ and ‘City of Love’. Dutch dance music superstar Don Diablo’s distinctive future house sound blends elements of house, electro, and futuristic music. Surf Mesa will perform on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Don Diablo on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Both concerts are free and open to the public.
"I have always been passionate about blurring the lines between dance music and culture,” said Powell Aguirre a.k.a. Surf Mesa. “Incorporating skateboarding and action sports into this mix excites me about the future of dance music. Growing up, I was always at the skatepark, so an opportunity like this feels natural. Without a doubt, I can’t wait to create a fun and unforgettable experience and perform at the Rockstar Energy Open!"
“Music and skateboarding have been intertwined since the beginning,” said Kemp Curley, managing director, of Platfrm. “Surf Mesa and Don Diablo’s performances will elevate the fan experience and provide an epic soundtrack for the world’s best skateboarders.”
Rockstar Energy Open will be free and open to the public, with VIP upgrade options available for an elevated experience. The competition will be live-streamed on ThePlatfrm.com and can also be viewed globally on streaming networks including Platfrm channels, Proseiben, FuelTV and more.
