With skate fans primed for mosh pits and mayhem after the high-energy Park and Street Best Trick jam sessions on Saturday at the Rockstar Energy Open, the punk concert that followed provided the perfect soundtrack.

California pop punkers The Story So Far headlined, with Washington D.C. punk duo Teen Mortgage opening. Many of the skaters joined fans in the crowd, pogo dancing and running into circle pits with the same reckless abandon they showed in the chaotic Best Trick sessions.

“Portland is such an amazing city and it’s one of the first places we played as a band when we started touring, and we’re always stoked to come back here,” The Story So Far frontman Parker Cannon said, after checking out the Women’s Park Final and Men’s Street Final skate contests.

The Story So Far is touring songs from its 2024 album I Want To Disappear. It’s the 5th album from the band, founded in 2007 in Walnut Creek, California. After Saturday's show, The Story So Far is heading out on the road with Neck Deep, Origami Angel, and Pain of Truth on a tour that will take them across the U.S. through the end of September.

Opening act Teen Mortgage played songs from both its 2025 album Devil Ultrasonic Dream and its self-titled 2024 album. The D.C.-based duo—singer/guitarist James Guile and drummer Ed Barakauskas—has been at it in the nation’s capital since 2017 and is currently on a North American tour with dates in the U.S. and Canada from now through December.

Guile, a strong flatland skater known to throw down for Game of SKATE battles with fans and other touring bands when Teen Mortgage is on the road, said he was stoked to play for skaters and skate fans in Portland, and considered taking the stage on Saturday night a bonus after getting to see so many of his favorite skaters compete.
