Aoi Uemura

Aoi Uemura (and her collection of wild pants) makes her way from Osaka, Japan, where she has cultivated not only her incredible skate style but eclectic tastes in general.For example, Aoi is a major music connoisseur and listens to pop, jazz, and hip-hop music from Japan, the U.S. and Brazil. Her skate roots, though, come from the strong skate scene in Osaka centered around the Simple City skateshop and parks including her local, Hasco Skatepark. When it comes to finding skate inspiration Aoi turns to study new skate videos and old alike. Sometimes she digs deep into skate history, as with the Bennett grind that has become one of her go-to tricks; named for Matt Bennett. Between the Tokyo Uprising event in 2023 where she took top honors as well as her Street League Select Series win that same year, Aoi becoming known for a lot more than just her fashion style.
