After the Friday night Rail Jam at the 2025 snowboard Rockstar Energy Open (RSEO), Australian music producer Torren Foot kept the party going at the Peak 8 base area with an on-mountain DJ set spotlighting his signature blend of house music before heading down to Breckenridge’s Blue River Plaza for the in-town party, also featuring a snowboard film festival and back-to-back DJ sets from Torren and New York City-based music producer Westend.

Friday night’s films were packed with riders competing at this week’s events in Breckenridge.

Brandon Davis, who won Friday night's Rail Jam event, was among the stars of the new Rockstar Energy film short Carpe Diem, which also features Mikey Ciccarelli, Raibu Katayama, and Gabe Ferguson

Fans in Breckenridge also got to see Tr3 D2UCE, the 30th anniversary offering from Thirtytwo; RSEO Breckenridge competitors in the film include Austin “Vizz” Visintainer, brothers Pat and Joey Fava, and Veda Hallen. A trio of film shorts from The North Face—Boomerang, The Sound of Japan, Varmin—opened the evening festivities.

After the film fest, it was on to the dance party, with the second set of the day from Torren Foot and a headlining set by DJ and music producer Westend.

“It's sick to be out here and be a part of this event. Growing up, I was a skateboarder for all my teenage years and I learned to snowboard on the East Coast, so I've always been around these kinds of sports. It's just so cool to be here and be DJing and seeing everyone just kill it on the mountain,” said Tyler Morris, the NYC-based artist who performs as Westend.

He said his goal for Friday night was to help set the tone for the weekend’s snowboarding events. For example, he added some Easter eggs to his set for snowboarding fans, including remixing bits of the SSX Tricky snowboard video game he loved as a kid.

“I think my music naturally fits this event’s vibe well. I always try to find some music to match where I'm playing and something special that's kind of like one of a kind."

Westend played several tracks by artists on his label, Trace Amounts, and also worked his two most recent singles into his set: “Take Your Places” was released earlier this month, and “Lighter” was released in October, a collaboration with singer Darla Jade.

“In my recent work I'm taking a lot of influence from what really inspired me when I got into electronic music back around 2011 and 2012 when I was in high school, so a lot of electro house and an ode to that progressive house, Deadmau5 kind of sound,” he said. “I've been feeling very nostalgic, looking back and trying to put a fresh take on that sound.”

RSEO Breckenridge fans and athletes were feeling it. And a highlight of the night: When someone inflated the shell from one of the CordaRoy’s Bean Bags and the crowd started passing it around like the world’s biggest beachball.
