Rail Jam Mayhem: Brandon Davis & Jessica Perlmutter Wreak Havoc In First Event At 2025 Snowboard RSEO

The Rail Jam event opened up the weekend of competition at the 2025 snowboard Rockstar Energy Open (RSEO) with a diverse field of riders mixing men and women, pros, rising stars, plus some mostly unknown riders, making for a batch of faces not typical to marquee contests in a format that everyone enjoyed together. All of that in combination with a DJ set from Australian DJ Torren Foot at the base of Peak 8, the fans and athletes alike felt the all-inclusive apres vibes in full force at the RSEO Rail Jam.

Running from the semifinal straight into the final, ten (10) men and eight (8) women alternated their drops into the rail garden section for the first 20-minute session, allowing the first round of riders each to take two runs. The field left nothing for chance knowing that only five (5) men and five (5) women would advance into the 15-minute final.
Brothers Fava, Pat and Joey were standouts from their first hits and then again on their second. Both brothers started their runs with crab walks to pick up a little extra speed and the announcers in the booth were loving every wiggle.
When they were asked what is different about the course compared to those they typically ride they replied, “It’s big! The rails are mega, but they did a great job. Thank you Rockstar!”

Though Joey didn’t make the cut for the final, it didn’t take away from his experience. The same could be said for the likes of Egan Wint. Egan missed practice but still tried to send it during the semifinal, and although she didn’t advance she had some fun throwing down.
“At first glance I pooped my pants,” laughed Egan, when asked how she reacted when she first approached the setup. “I think these rails are as tall as I am.” Jokes aside, Egan confirmed the squad was stoked to put on a show.

As the riders hit the rails under a setting sun and skies turned colors, the lights came on and the DJ set kicked off. When the snowboarders that advanced to the final reached the bottom of the course, they found themselves surrounded by fans and live music.
The top qualifying woman, Jessica Perlmutter laced a frontside boardslide pretzel 270 out on the long down rail in both semifinal and then again to start her campaign into the final, securing her status as the one to beat.

Truth Smith, a VQS invitee to Breckenridge, was a last-minute addition to the Rail Jam and he was…well, fired up. “I’m just fucking fired up to be here,” said Truth without filter. When asked how he got so fired up, he responded, “All the homies are here doing crazy stuff! We’ve been getting fired up all day and then the crowd here now is amazing.”
Rockstar athlete Brandon Davis won the inaugural RSEO Breckenridge men’s Rail Jam event with standout tricks including a 50-50 backside 360, gap to switch lip on the down-flat-down rail, gap Cab 270 in 270 off, and a hardway from the cannon rail.

That put Brandon on top of the men’s podium alongside VQS qualifier Truth Smith and Sam Anderson. Truth turned out to be one of the biggest surprises of the night, he took home the Nixon Best Time award as his enthusiasm throughout the event was undeniable. Sam also earned a second award with his frontside bluntslide 270 earning him The North Face Best Trick honors.

“What a trip! I'm thankful for Rockstar putting together such a chill weekend,” Brandon said after the contest. “It's a family reunion for all the riders and we're out here just boarding for fun, and trying to show what snowboarding's about. Taking that energy into the contest really helped a lot.”
Sixteen-year-old Jessica Perlmutter stayed strong to win the women’s Rail Jam, surprising herself most of all with highlights including those front board pretzels, gap to frontside lipslide, and two standouts on the down-flat-down-flat-down kink rail: a 50-50 and a switch boardslide.

“It's honestly a crazy feeling,” Jessica said after the contest. “I did not think I was gonna win at all! I was just hyped to have fun with my friends, but I liked the setup a lot: it was really big and I’m hyped to have put some tricks down on it.”
Jessica shared the podium with Jaylen Hanson and Bella Warren (both riders also earned VQS entry into this weekend’s Women’s Parkstyle Semifinal). Bella won the Nixon Best Time award in Friday’s rail jam for bringing high energy and consistently strong tricks.
All in all, the weekend kicked off with high energy, heavy tricks and a total breakdown of the barriers we’ve all become accustomed to at major events.
