Skateboarding
What does it take to become a two-time Olympic gold medalist? “I pretty much sacrificed my entire childhood,” says Keegan Palmer.
After picking up a board at the age of three, Keegan’s life literally revolved around skateboarding, surfing and school. “My parents apologize to me about it all the time.” But for Keegan, the years of dedication paid off. By 18, he became the first-ever Olympic gold medalist in skateboard park—and his life has never been the same since. “I went from not really doing a lot in my career, and financially, to this. Zero to 100 in the span of 12 hours. It was insane!”
Keegan referred to himself as “a 3rd-place type of kid up until the Japan Olympics.” In 2024, though, he arrived at the Paris Games ready. At 21, he won a second consecutive Olympic gold medal. But, back-to-back Olympic golds aren’t enough for Keegan. “My biggest goal now is to create a legacy… to cement the Palmer name somewhere in history.”
In this episode of In Depth featuring Keegan Palmer we meet him at his home to see what his like is like today (between golfing, gaming and high fashion), while learning all about his unique childhood (or lack there of).
