In Depth with Red Gerard: Cleveland Roots to Slopestyle Champion

You know Redmond “Red” Gerard as the person on the podium after putting down a powerfully technical top-to-bottom slopestyle run. He won the 2018 Olympic gold medal in PyeongChang, back-to-back Dew Tour events in 2020-2021, and back-to-back X Games golds in 2024-2025. Red has become a contest champion and well-rounded snowboard veteran with the backcountry parts to prove it. But Redmond didn’t do it alone.

Red attributes a TON of his success on a snowboard to his inner circle. His family is where it all starts, notably his brother Malachi for the most direct impact on Red’s career. Hailey Langland, also a world class professional snowboarder, has become another pillar to his strength since they began dating. Red recognizes the road hasn’t been traveled alone and he’s thankful to everyone that has joined his journey to earn another podium result.

In this episode of In Depth with Red Gerard, take it all the way back to his earliest childhood days in Cleveland, Ohio before moving to Silverthorne, Colorado at age seven, where his snowboarding obsession took full root. Hear how Red Gerard finds inspiration from his US teammates, snowboarding idols, close friends, and how his family has supported him since day one.
